{Real Wedding} Julianne and Navin's Indian + American Wedding

It’s always great fun to design for couples we’ve never met before, but being asked to design for friends and family is the greatest honor!  I feel so fortunate to that I was asked to create the invitation and paper goods for the wedding of my beautiful sister-in-law, Julianne, and her groom, Navin, on July 6, 2013, in Boylston, Massachusetts.  To add to that exhilaration, this was a dual ceremony: Indian + American!

Both of the outdoor ceremonies and the reception were held at Tower Hill Botanic Garden. The invitation was a champagne pocket fold with a cream lace overlay, printed with light purple florals and leaf green accents. Something Borrowed Something New Events planned the wedding to perfection. With breathtaking photography by Matt Wood Photography and videography by Mavid Productions, Julianne and Navin will be able to look back on their day for years to come.

The Indian ceremony featured a beautiful mandap covered in gold, orange, and red draping.  So, for the Indian ceremony, we created a gold and red booklet-style program with hand-sewn binding, tied with a fluffy scarlet red satin ribbon.  The pages inside outlined the ceremony and described traditions so guests could follow along.  Special thanks to Navin’s aunt who was instrumental in providing the wording for the Indian program!

After the Indian ceremony, it was time to change everything!

For reception seating, we created table cards that each contained a unique flower motif and name.  Every table number used a different color in the sky blue, mossy green, yellow, and lilac purple color scheme.  We then printed guests’ names on cards that reflected the names and motifs of the table numbers, and mounted them on mossy satin ribbon and cream-colored lace strung on a decorative ironwork gate as a colorful, dimensional seating chart.

For favors, Julianne and Navin chose to give candy tucked inside adorable mini picnic baskets, and the whole family joined in the assembly line to decorate these with lace, light green ribbon, and favor tags printed on kraft brown paper.  At each place-setting, we also placed a thank you to each guest for attending the wedding, designed to coordinate with the reception decor and add color and decoration to the tables.
