Epic “Father/ Daughter dance” at Cypress Grove Estate House Orlando, Florida from Paul Duhon on Vimeo.

At our first meeting with Mackenzie we asked her to describe her wedding inspiration.  Although this is not an exact quote, the list went something like this: Alaska, Ireland, pubs, old wood, and whiskey barrels.  What a thrilling moment that was, because instantly I knew this project was going to be fun, creatively challenging, and totally different.  This couple has a long list of places traveled and experiences had – they were a blast to work with and were amazing creative collaborators.  Mackenzie and Beau had a gorgeous wedding day at Cypress Grove Estate House, photographed by The Canovas Photography with floral by Lee James Floral DesignsBlush by Brandee Gaar did a fabulous job bringing together all the details that made Mackenzie and Beau’s wedding personal, sophisticated, and an incredibly memorable good time.

The colors of the day included navy blue and red, creams and champagnes, powder blues, earthy greens, and wood-tone browns.  Taking the whiskey barrel inspiration to heart, we set the tone with printed wood save-the-dates.  Designed to mimic a whiskey label, we printed in blue, red, and gold on Cherry wood and accented the save-the-date with a thin navy satin ribbon. Their wedding invitations followed next with a slightly more refined look.  These arrived in a bronzed wood-embossed folder accented with a navy blue satin ribbon and scarlet red wax seal impressed with their custom monogram.  Inside the folder, we printed navy-on-navy to achieve a subtle but dramatic look.  This tone-on-tone look was mimicked on their envelope liners as well.

Mackenzie and Beau wanted to include personal touches in their wedding, and had many sentimental ideas. Instead of table numbers, the couple’s favorite travel destinations, such as Ireland, Alaska, and tropical hot spots, were used for the table assignments.  We created a unique motif for each table depicting the locale and also adding in memorable elements – iguanas on rocks or waterfalls loaded with frogs – and printed a conversation-starting story at the bottom of each.  To direct guests to their tables, we created a slatted wooden board and affixed lists of tables, each list adorned with leftover wax seals from the invitations.

Their custom monogram was used throughout the wedding; Blush by Brandee Gaar even arranged to have their custom monogram painted on the wooden corn hole boards that guests played for a little outdoor fun.

Even though the wedding had a sophisticated outdoor feel, the reception turned out to be quite the party! Thanks to Messina Productions, the night was punctuated by fantastic choreographed dancing, streamer cannons, and a grand finale of fireworks over the lake.

Congratulations, Mackenzie and Beau! We are so happy that we could be part of your day!

Citrus Style Movie at The Peach Tree House from Riant Films on Vimeo.

When we were given the opportunity to work with some of our favorite event professionals for a styled shoot to feature a newer wedding venue, we jumped at the chance! Bonnie from Mobella Events had a vision to highlight the Southern style of the sweetly-named Peachtree House: a styled wedding that was all about the bright citrus colors of our sunny state and vintage touches to accent the history of the home. So many beautiful elements brought this shoot, expertly photographed by Bumby Photography, to life.

We chose whimsical, classic-looking artwork to adorn our invitations and paper goods. Wreaths of oranges, lemons and limes dotted with orange blossom and coral-colored floral created a focal point for the invitation, menu, and dessert buffet sign, and garlands of the same artwork topped the smaller paper pieces. Each piece that we created was backed with bold, juicy-colored paper in a fun, bubbling pattern.

Our custom invitations had an extra-special touch: we used tangerine orange satin, meticulously folded at the corners, as a unique backing. The invitation had two layers of bright paper on top of the satin: first, a layer of tangerine orange to coordinate with the fabric, then a layer with a custom-designed lime green pattern. The couple’s names were printed in bright coral in the center of the wreath artwork. The menus continued the wreath artwork, but with the couple’s initials casually jotted as “m + j” in the center.

In addition to the sign and tags that we signage to describe the citrus-dotted treats on the crazy-fantastic dessert buffet by Two Sweets Bake Shop, we created a custom “Just Married” sign for the back of the classic getaway car from Cole’s Classic Cars. The bold colors that we used on the ribbon banner-like sign popped when affixed to the bumper of the pastel green Chevy.

Bright floral by Bluegrass Chic, country chic pieces from A Chair Affair, custom chalk pieces and seating board by Chalk Shop and vintage furniture from RW Events rounded out the eclectic look for this shoot. We were happy to create pieces that honored the era of the home while still bringing a bit of modernity.

Want to have a cohesive look for your wedding from start to finish? Our pieces can help you with that – from custom save-the-date, the perfect invitation, fabulous and functional day-of papers, and finishing with thank you notes and everyday stationery.  Just contact us for a consultation so we can get started.

Last month, we were a part of the Perfect Wedding Guide Orlando networking event at the new Up The Creek Farms. The entire evening had a warm, welcoming atmosphere, thanks to the coordination and styling pros of L.I.F.E. Events. The venue has a rustic atmosphere that was amplified by the vintage Southern decor. Colors for the evening were hues of coral and navy blue with touches of sunshine yellow, which was seen in the vintage furniture brought by Crystal and Crates Vintage Rentals, the floral arrangements from Buds Etc Floral Studio, and the cake by Best Little Cake House, and our paper goods. We’re happy to share some beautiful photos by Bumby Photography.

We created fun, whimsical pieces for this event. Our custom fans did triple duty! Guests could cool themselves, use the fans as props in the photo booth, and also read the credits for the participating vendors. On one side, we printed old-Southern sayings like “Bless Your Heart!” and “I Do Declare!” while the other side was printed with the list of event sponsors. The curved frame die-cut shape gave the fans a pretty and classic look. Floral artwork in shades of coral decorated the corners of the fans and was also featured on the rest of our paper goods.

The custom table cards were another cheeky element that we made especially for this evening. Mounted on navy blue tent cards, we created signs with stereotypical Southern “tips” such as “Be a one-person welcome wagon” and “Have a signature cocktail.” The cards were backed with various patterns of coral plaid behind a layer of sunny yellow card stock.

P is for Pie Bake Shop provided a dessert buffet stocked with traditional Southern treats. We created round signs on picks for many of the desserts, including pecan pie, s’mores, and berry and lemon cream “cutie pies.” Each of the signs featured a single flower to follow the artwork motif. For the specialty “hummingbird cupcakes,” we made a sign on a navy tent card in a similar style to our other table cards.

We love designing invitations and paper goods that are unique and created specifically for a particular event. Make sure you’re following us on Facebook to see examples of our work.

Thank you to all of the amazing wedding professionals that teamed up to make this Southern-styled evening a success:

You’ve heard of the “first look” when a couple sees each other for the first time before their ceremony.  Well, here’s a “first look” of a couple seeing their dessert buffet, created by the amazing Two Sweets Bake Shop, for the first time prior to their reception.  Barb and Steve were married at the jaw-dropping Grand Bohemian Hotel, and I do believe their faces in the photos say it all!  This is why we love working with Two Sweets–to create custom signage and buffet tags for their incredible dessert displays–because the reaction is priceless.

It was a moment that Barb can now relive forever thanks to Castaldo Studios, who did an amazing job capturing every sweet moment from this wedding reception! All of the details really made this buffet into a show-stopper: from the sumptuous floral designs by Bluegrass Chic, to the wine barrels and wooden tables from A Chair Affair, to the gorgeous petite cake by The Sugar Suite. Everything was expertly planned and pulled together beautifully by Swanky I Do’s, who helped the bride design the buffet with more that 22 sweet treats!

We designed the buffet tags and signage to reflect the antique style of Barb and Steve’s invitation.  We thought artwork that mimicked vintage perfume bottle labels would be a perfect fit for such an elegant vintage display.  We printed these pieces on creamy paper in a sepia tone, and then layered them onto bronze tent cards.

Congrats to Barb and Steve and best wishes for a wonderful life together!  And thank you to Two Sweets Bake Shop for having us create these custom pieces for such a lovely couple!

Real Wedding: Amy & Ed’s Beach Wedding

With their families and friends spread out across the US, Amy and Ed put some thought into where they might have their wedding.  Finally it hit them: why not get married in their own backyard?  Amy and Ed live within walking distance of the beach where they were married in Cape Canaveral, Florida.

When I first met with Amy and Ed to discuss their wedding invitations, they hadn’t yet decided on a color scheme.  After browsing through paper swatches and considering the possibilities, they decided on a steel-and-champagne color palette for their invitation and paper goods.  These colors worked well with Amy’s creamy white layered wedding dress and Ed’s sandy linen suit.  Their final invitation combined perfectly smooth pearlized steel cardstock with the natural textures of Japanese lace paper and eco-friendly twisted-paper ribbon in shades of creamy ivory.  Inside, a light champagne liner displayed a custom map to the beach and shuttle information for guests to travel between the beach and reception.  Considering their setting on a Florida beach in July, we also created wedding programs that doubled as fans.

Their marriage took place on the beach near the dunes, under an arch adorned with white lilies and starfish and surrounded by mini palms.  Seashells with the couple’s name and wedding date were passed to guests after vows were made, and the entire party walked to the water’s edge, wished Amy and Ed well, and tossed their shells into the sea.

For the reception, Amy and Ed chose a second palette of bright oranges, yellows, and greens – perfect to gear up guests for the big bash that followed.  Centerpieces and table settings reflected this bright color scheme.  Favors consisted of margarita glasses (for use at the margarita bar) and cello bags of candy tied with favor tags that doubled as seating cards.  Amy and Ed opted for an extensive surf-and-turf buffet and a large selection of gourmet cakes in lieu of one single wedding cake, so we also created coordinating buffet cards with descriptions of each menu item.

Amy and Ed’s wedding incorporated things that are important to them: a setting that reflected the home they share, supportive and loving family and friends, an intertwining of comfort and elegance, and a love that will last a lifetime!  Thanks Amy and Ed, for letting me be a part of your day!
