Inspired by the ballroom scene in the movie Labyrinth, which is a forever favorite for many of us, this project was extra-special for many of the vendors involved. For this styled shoot designed by Anna Christine Events, feminine was paired with masculine: flowing fabrics paired with tooled leather, lush florals paired with old clocks and weathered metals. With Claire Pacelli Photography behind the camera, every detail of this whimsical styled shoot at Up the Creek Farms was captured to perfection.

The wedding invitation we designed for this styled shoot was a scalloped-edge gatefold invitation printed with a custom pattern in shades of cream, warm brown and sepia. A satin ribbon wrapped around to close the invitation with a custom wax seal. These were housed in a brown silk gatefold box with a rich brown ribbon and a bronze brooch embellishment.

Inside the ballroom, table settings of glitter glass chargers from A Chair Affair were topped with wedding menus printed in a vintage patina, embellished with a wide, peach-colored fabric ribbon then layered with crisscrossing ivory ribbon. Next to each setting, scroll-like place cards were wrapped around fresh peaches (in the film, a poisoned peach transported Sarah to Jareth’s whimsical Ballroom in one bite). We also created round escort cards, that rested inside glass bubbles atop lush green mosses, and hung in front of free-standing rustic doors.

The bride dazzled in a gorgeous gown from LA Bridal Boutique reminiscent of Sarah’s grand ballgown, and wore lengths of ribbon in her hair; the groom was sleek and sophisticated in a sharp gray tuxedo from Absolutely Fitting. Fabulous floral accents of pale pinks and whites designed by Flowers by Lesley added hints of romance, complementing the stunning 5-tiered pale pink and white wedding cake fit for a Goblin King and Queen by Everything Cake. A stunning dessert buffet with the most decadent of treats was created by Two Sweets Bake Shop.

We were so happy to see that the shoot was featured on Every Last Detail!

When Two Sweets Bake Shop asked us to be a part of a styled shoot inspired by every little girl’s dream ballerina birthday party, we couldn’t pass it up! This party look is perfect for little girls who want to grow up to be ballerinas and looooove pink!

For these super-special invitations, we used blush and pink and more pink and white.  We used a tri-fold invitation with a die-cut flap of scalloped edges, tied with a pink satin ribbon and a round tag with ballet slipper.  Inside, a pearl white custom die-cut invitation, coordinating with the folder flap shape, contained the invitation wording.

For a special and festive touch, we used cone-shaped menus that doubled as napkin rings, printed on pearlized white stock and tied at the back with blush satin ribbon. For place cards, we printed a tiny banner with each girl’s name, and attached it to the stick of a gold glitter cake pop. Ballet slipper artwork was used on our favor tags for the pink goodie bags, with a simple “Thank you!” note on top. For a little extra fun, we attached tags that said “ballet” to pink satin ribbon wands.

When you walked up to the dessert table, the first thing you see is a banner with each circle letter spelling out “ballet,” strung together with soft pink satin ribbon. The “Happy Birthday, Maya!” sign featured ballerina artwork on a pearlized background. For each dessert, we designed custom buffet tags in a pinstripe pattern of ballet pink and soft white, backed with shimmering gold tent cards.

We had a blast working together with Two Sweets Bake Shop, who designed the party and created the delicious dessert buffet, along with Bluegrass Chic, who made gorgeous pink and white floral centerpieces! Our favorite parts of the day, though, were the happy faces, giggles and large smiles captured by Bumby Photography. These little girls squealed with delight upon entering the party room, and within minutes, their faces and fingers were sticky with sweets!

Boheme Wedding ThemeBohemian Wedding Ideas

We had been feeling the need to do something a little different when we developed this Moroccan-inspired shoot with Bumby Photography, Bluegrass Chic, and Two Sweets Bake Shop. We imagined a contemporary bohemian wedding with loads of color, textures, and patterns.  To start, the grassy outdoor space was decorated with gorgeous shades of bright fuchsia and medium pinks, orange and teal, accented with dangling florals, glass bubbles, gold elephants and comfortable seat cushions.

We were inspired by ikat, and designed the die-cut tri-fold invitation with a coral, teal, tangerine, gray and yellow chevron + ikat pattern with a gold border. This colorful bohemian wedding invitation was adorned with an antique gold tassel and cord.

At our outdoor table, our round menus used rings of coral and tangerine with gold tassel accent, and were placed atop intricate pewter chargers. Woven chargers and gold flatware by A Chair Affair, and colorful floral arrangements by Bluegrass Chic mixed with bronze and gold vases and candlesticks completed the tablescape.

For a unique twist on escort cards, we created round tags in turquoise, tangerine, papaya, mocha, and magenta, and hung them on woven baskets with gold tassels. We continued these bright colors and ikat pattern in our dessert buffet signs, which looked perfect next to the pink lemonade cupcakes, hand pies, naked cake, and other sweets made by Two Sweets Bake Shop.

Sarah and Steven topped all the past and future Valentine’s Days they would spend together this year. Why? Because this year, they tied the knot at the luxurious Grand Bohemian Hotel, of course! To complement their white and navy winter wedding theme, we created custom navy and rose gold pocket wedding invitations.  Their spectacular rose gold invitation folders were foil-stamped in navy foil on both the front cover and the pocket to create a truly sensational invitation.  For their walk down the aisle, we created a gorgeous aisle sign, complete with navy details and over 20 hand-placed Swarovski crystals to make it sparkle and shine. At the reception, we created coordinating day-of paper goods, including a navy seating chart, displayed in a mirrored frame by An Affair to Remember, and round custom pearlized blue menus, printed in white ink and personalized with each guest’s name and entree selection, then adorned with crystals. In a twist to their typical dessert table, Two Sweets Bake Shop delivered a selection of desserts to each table at the reception, accompanied by a small dessert menu to help guest navigate the individualized display.

An Affair to Remember transformed this incredible wedding into a white winter paradise while Tab McCausland Photography captured all the details. Gorgeous white floral arrangements and crystal trees from Atmospheres Floral & Décor decorated the ceremony and ballroom, with the center of the reception featuring a customized dance floor provided by That’s a Wrap!. The final touch to the newlywed’s winter retreat was the gorgeous 3-tiered wedding cake with pearl detailing and white and silver buttercream tiers designed by Party Flavors Custom Cakes.

We loved every moment we spent working with you, Sarah and Steven! We hope you adored your custom wedding papers as much as we had a blast creating them for you.  Thank you for choosing to work with Dogwood Blossom Stationery!

Citrus Style Movie at The Peach Tree House from Riant Films on Vimeo.

When we were given the opportunity to work with some of our favorite event professionals for a styled shoot to feature a newer wedding venue, we jumped at the chance! Bonnie from Mobella Events had a vision to highlight the Southern style of the sweetly-named Peachtree House: a styled wedding that was all about the bright citrus colors of our sunny state and vintage touches to accent the history of the home. So many beautiful elements brought this shoot, expertly photographed by Bumby Photography, to life.

We chose whimsical, classic-looking artwork to adorn our invitations and paper goods. Wreaths of oranges, lemons and limes dotted with orange blossom and coral-colored floral created a focal point for the invitation, menu, and dessert buffet sign, and garlands of the same artwork topped the smaller paper pieces. Each piece that we created was backed with bold, juicy-colored paper in a fun, bubbling pattern.

Our custom invitations had an extra-special touch: we used tangerine orange satin, meticulously folded at the corners, as a unique backing. The invitation had two layers of bright paper on top of the satin: first, a layer of tangerine orange to coordinate with the fabric, then a layer with a custom-designed lime green pattern. The couple’s names were printed in bright coral in the center of the wreath artwork. The menus continued the wreath artwork, but with the couple’s initials casually jotted as “m + j” in the center.

In addition to the sign and tags that we signage to describe the citrus-dotted treats on the crazy-fantastic dessert buffet by Two Sweets Bake Shop, we created a custom “Just Married” sign for the back of the classic getaway car from Cole’s Classic Cars. The bold colors that we used on the ribbon banner-like sign popped when affixed to the bumper of the pastel green Chevy.

Bright floral by Bluegrass Chic, country chic pieces from A Chair Affair, custom chalk pieces and seating board by Chalk Shop and vintage furniture from RW Events rounded out the eclectic look for this shoot. We were happy to create pieces that honored the era of the home while still bringing a bit of modernity.

Want to have a cohesive look for your wedding from start to finish? Our pieces can help you with that – from custom save-the-date, the perfect invitation, fabulous and functional day-of papers, and finishing with thank you notes and everyday stationery.  Just contact us for a consultation so we can get started.

Dallin and Gideon had a beautiful, fun, and ultra-personal wedding at the Orlando Science Center.  They are a creative, fun-loving, and inspired couple who wanted to incorporate their personalities and common interests into their wedding, so we were super excited to get to work on their designs!  One of their favorite leisure activities is board games and gaming, so a lot of inspiration initially came from their favorite games; then for day-of papers we were able to incorporate a lot of other fun stuff from their life together, like their adorable pups, Loki and Samson.  Dallin and Gideon’s wedding was really quite amazing–a thoroughly unique venue that mixed a somewhat industrial concrete patio for the ceremony with thrilling and fun dinosaur relics at the reception, a choreographed swing dance for the couple’s first dance, sock and shoe changes between ceremony and reception, and tons of personal touches throughout.

Our invitations and paper goods featured a color palette of blues, teals, and pale green with a honeycomb pattern based loosely on a favorite game.  On the reverse, we used a hearthstone from the game World of Warcraft.  In the game, you choose a home location, and the hearthstone can be used to return you to that location…how spectacularly fitting for a wedding invitation! The invitation is printed on a sleek transparent sleeve that slides over a textured white pocket folder that contains the response enclosure and important wedding information.  The inside of the folder was custom-printed with their colorful pattern and we used a round nameplate with their monogram on the printed enclosure band that held their response enclosure.

We carried the honeycomb pattern and the clean and contemporary text style onto the menus and escort cards, and the couple’s monogram and styled names were used on several other key paper goods like the ceremony programs, a “guest book poster” for guests to sign, and a larger-than-life sign that was held in the mouth of T-Rex.

Lee Forrest Design did an amazing job creating florals for the ceremony and reception that fit Gideon and Dallin’s style perfectly.  They created a perfect setting for the escort card table in particular, by placing glass dishes filled with stones interspersed with masculine florals into which the escort cards were displayed.

For the first time ever, we coordinated with Party Flavors Custom Cakes to design a custom cake topper!  Their super-unique cake was designed with hexagonal tiers with a fondant pattern that coordinated with the honeycomb pattern of the paper goods.  We also created several signage pieces ranging from table numbers, cards and gifts signage, and dessert buffet tags for the spectacular dessert buffet by Two Sweets Bake Shop.

Gideon and Dallin put so much attention into the details of their wedding, and we were thrilled to be part of their wedding!  We love working with couples who want super-unique paper goods that fully express their personalities and style.  For us, this will be a wedding and a couple to remember for a long, long time.  Thank you, Gideon and Dallin, for choosing to work with Dogwood Blossom Stationery!

“We hired Denise with Dogwood Blossom Stationery very early in the wedding planning process. It was the best decision we made. Denise came up with a modern and contemporary vision for our save-the-dates and invitations that ended up helping us style the wedding overall. As we are not very creative people ourselves, I cannot imagine what our wedding would have been like had we not brought Denise on board early on. We used Denise with everything on paper: invitations, save-the-dates, thank-you cards, custom menus, various signs around the reception and ceremony, a guest sign-in poster, cake topper, programs. Everything was extremely well done, fully 100% customized, and truly made our wedding unique. Honestly, hiring a custom designer for paper goods is naturally going to be more expensive than buying things online. But what a world of difference it made—not just in the paper goods themselves, but in really tying everything together and making our wedding look like it was a professionally-designed event. In every category of vendor, we hired who we were told was the best in town. But out of all of them, Dogwood Blossom was truly the one we could not have done without.” [Gideon and Dallin, review from WeddingWire]

A variety of deep and vibrant shades of red mixed with plenty of white and gold made this shoot look modern and romantic, with plenty of references to traditional holiday elements. Classic holiday elegance was combined with warm wood tones and a variety of textures to give the shoot an inviting feel. We used these rich colors and textures and mixed in warm, casual notes when creating our invitations and paper goods.

Our invitation was enclosed in a folder that was wrapped with a red satin ribbon. Inside, the invitation and response card were die-cut to create a pretty frame edge, and a band of red satin ribbon also held the response card. While the exterior of the folder was white, the interior featured a deep red with a subtle damask watermark with rosy-colored florals used throughout.  The floral motif and carried over to our deep red custom menus, which were also done in the die-cut frame shape.

We used our new printed wood technique to create customized tags for the napkin ties, chair back escort cards, and to label the ingredients for Two Sweets Bake Shop‘s hot chocolate buffet. Each set of wooden cards was cut in a different shape: rounded squares, scalloped edges, and even the frame shape that we used for the invitations and menus.

Every element of this shoot was carefully thought out. We loved the whimsical and decadent hot chocolate buffet with accompanying mirror board by Chalk Shop, the amazing variety of flowers and greenery by Cheryl’s Distinctive Creations, and the warm plaid blankets wrapped around the dazzlingly elegant bride and bridesmaids. All together, this great mix of styles should provide the perfect inspiration to get you in the holiday spirit!

We loved showcasing some of our unique techniques in this styled shoot! You can get a similar look for your wedding or special event–just contact us for your design consultation.

Thank you to all of the talented event professionals that we had the pleasure of working with on this shoot!

What a great collaboration! Bluegrass Chic designed a reception table for a Southern tea and Two Sweets Bake Shop designed an accompanying bourbon bar-inspired dessert buffet.  So many elements enhanced the Southern equestrian style, including vintage china, lace details, an abundance of flowers, and (of course) a horse motif!  Thanks to Allan Jay Images for capturing the look so beautifully!

Our paper goods featured horseshoe and wildflower artwork to bring the South into our work. We used earth tones to keep the look classic, such as deep green, sage, burgundy and goldenrod. The menus were layered onto pale metallic gold stock and accented by an emblem with the couple’s monogram surrounded by a golden yellow horseshoe with burgundy flowers. We also made a sign to welcome guests to the celebration, which used the same artwork as the menu but included the written theme of the day: “Tea for Two, and Two for Tea.”

On the table, we carried the traditional Southern design elements to several accent pieces. Guests knew that they were in the correct seat by our unique place cards: teabag tags printed with their names! Also at each place setting was a favor of jarred lemon curd, for which we made circular tags with the wildflower artwork. For a fun touch, each guest also had access to a bell with our tag that read, “Ring for Kisses!” Both the favor tags and the bell tags were tied with a silky sage green ribbon to coordinate with the color palette.

The dessert buffet by Two Sweets Bake Shop featured our sign announcing that the buffet would open after brunch. This time, we chose to accent the sign with the couple’s full monogram flanked by wildflowers instead of using the horseshoe and single letter monogram. Be assured–the dessert table had plenty of horses! We created signage for each sweet treat that had sophisticated horse artwork at the top. Plus, the table was styled with horse statues and riding paraphernalia intermingled with the candy and cupcakes.

Imagine a wedding on Halloween…what do you envision? Instead of the commercially prevalent orange pumpkins and witches riding on brooms, a more glamorous route was taken for this styled shoot. We were so excited to work with some of our favorite event professionals, including Lee Forrest Design, Two Sweets Bake Shop, Everything Cake, and Bumby Photography, at an amazing location–the stunningly dramatic Grand Bohemian Hotel Orlando.  Imagined by Two Sweets Bake Shop and designed in partnership with Mobella Events, this team of wedding pros produced a romantic look full of candles and decadence with touches of whimsy here and there.

Rich purples and vivid red were used as accent colors to the inky black and gleaming gold that took center stage for the color scheme. Both the invitations and the menus used gold foil on black stock. The invitation was layered on top of gold metallic and black stock with a thick black satin ribbon tied in a bow on one side. Gold foil was used to create an ornate frame-like border around the playful text: telling guests that “the wicked pleasure of your company is requested” and reiterating the slightly morbid sentiment “’til death do us part.” Branch-like artwork capped the top and bottom of the invitation, and a tiny bat was placed at the bottom for a classic Halloween touch.

The same artwork from the invitation was used on the black menus. The round shape of the menus was created by die-cut to fit perfectly on the vintage china from A Chair Affair. We assumed that the cake from Everything Cake was a “death by chocolate” cake! Speaking of decadence, Two Sweets Bake Shop outdid themselves with the amazing dessert buffet. We created tent cards for the various sweets (also gold foil on black) that warned guests: “antidote as yet unavailable.” Bats and skulls and cross bones added a decorative accent that brought back the Halloween theme.

We channeled classic Halloween decor when creating the escort card table. Using our new printed wood technique, we created “tombstones” for the escort cards along with a sign for guests to “find your resting place.” Each card read “here lies,” then the guest’s name, the their “plot” number (the table number). The cards were placed amongst moss for full graveyard effect. The guests knew they were at the correct table when they found the coordinating printed wood table numbers listing their plot number.

We loved that this shoot was so detailed! From the tiny spider on our escort card table sign, to the rosary cross in the bride’s bouquet, to the Day of the Dead figurines on the dessert buffet, everything was so well thought out. We could definitely see this styled shoot translating into a real-life wedding full of beautifully personal touches.
