Dallin and Gideon had a beautiful, fun, and ultra-personal wedding at the Orlando Science Center.  They are a creative, fun-loving, and inspired couple who wanted to incorporate their personalities and common interests into their wedding, so we were super excited to get to work on their designs!  One of their favorite leisure activities is board games and gaming, so a lot of inspiration initially came from their favorite games; then for day-of papers we were able to incorporate a lot of other fun stuff from their life together, like their adorable pups, Loki and Samson.  Dallin and Gideon’s wedding was really quite amazing–a thoroughly unique venue that mixed a somewhat industrial concrete patio for the ceremony with thrilling and fun dinosaur relics at the reception, a choreographed swing dance for the couple’s first dance, sock and shoe changes between ceremony and reception, and tons of personal touches throughout.

Our invitations and paper goods featured a color palette of blues, teals, and pale green with a honeycomb pattern based loosely on a favorite game.  On the reverse, we used a hearthstone from the game World of Warcraft.  In the game, you choose a home location, and the hearthstone can be used to return you to that location…how spectacularly fitting for a wedding invitation! The invitation is printed on a sleek transparent sleeve that slides over a textured white pocket folder that contains the response enclosure and important wedding information.  The inside of the folder was custom-printed with their colorful pattern and we used a round nameplate with their monogram on the printed enclosure band that held their response enclosure.

We carried the honeycomb pattern and the clean and contemporary text style onto the menus and escort cards, and the couple’s monogram and styled names were used on several other key paper goods like the ceremony programs, a “guest book poster” for guests to sign, and a larger-than-life sign that was held in the mouth of T-Rex.

Lee Forrest Design did an amazing job creating florals for the ceremony and reception that fit Gideon and Dallin’s style perfectly.  They created a perfect setting for the escort card table in particular, by placing glass dishes filled with stones interspersed with masculine florals into which the escort cards were displayed.

For the first time ever, we coordinated with Party Flavors Custom Cakes to design a custom cake topper!  Their super-unique cake was designed with hexagonal tiers with a fondant pattern that coordinated with the honeycomb pattern of the paper goods.  We also created several signage pieces ranging from table numbers, cards and gifts signage, and dessert buffet tags for the spectacular dessert buffet by Two Sweets Bake Shop.

Gideon and Dallin put so much attention into the details of their wedding, and we were thrilled to be part of their wedding!  We love working with couples who want super-unique paper goods that fully express their personalities and style.  For us, this will be a wedding and a couple to remember for a long, long time.  Thank you, Gideon and Dallin, for choosing to work with Dogwood Blossom Stationery!

“We hired Denise with Dogwood Blossom Stationery very early in the wedding planning process. It was the best decision we made. Denise came up with a modern and contemporary vision for our save-the-dates and invitations that ended up helping us style the wedding overall. As we are not very creative people ourselves, I cannot imagine what our wedding would have been like had we not brought Denise on board early on. We used Denise with everything on paper: invitations, save-the-dates, thank-you cards, custom menus, various signs around the reception and ceremony, a guest sign-in poster, cake topper, programs. Everything was extremely well done, fully 100% customized, and truly made our wedding unique. Honestly, hiring a custom designer for paper goods is naturally going to be more expensive than buying things online. But what a world of difference it made—not just in the paper goods themselves, but in really tying everything together and making our wedding look like it was a professionally-designed event. In every category of vendor, we hired who we were told was the best in town. But out of all of them, Dogwood Blossom was truly the one we could not have done without.” [Gideon and Dallin, review from WeddingWire]

Earlier in the year, we were thrilled to be a part of a Southern glam styled shoot to promote the grand opening of the new Ocoee Lakeshore Center. We worked alongside talented event professionals, including Bumby Photography and perfectionist planner, Anna Christine Events, showcasing Southern sophistication in the ‘Sweet as Tea, Meant to Be’ theme. The array of soft green, buttery yellow, vibrant peach, white and gold gave the shoot a welcoming atmosphere.

The romantic color palette flowed through our custom invitations and paper goods as we used a folding invitation with a custom, delicate vintage floral pattern on the interior, and a gold foiled monogram on the exterior.  Response enclosures were contained in a moss green satin ribbon-lined enclosure band with die cut monogram.

We carried the exquisite shape of the invitation over to the exclusively designed dinner menus that were nestled into a pocket of white satin on each gold charger from A Chair Affair. Adding a pale green border and a floral element, they matched the place cards that were attached to tea bags with complimenting ribbon. The table numbers were gold foil with a chic vine detail on white card stock.

For the drink and hors d’oeuvres menus, we layered the Southern selections on top of the floral card stock carried over from the inside of the invitations, giving a lovely framed effect to the display. The custom made Arnold Palmer take-home bar favors detailed the recipe for the Southern cocktail.

From the floral arrangements in white milk glass vases with a hand-picked feel, to the intricate detail of the five-tier wedding cake designed by Cut the Cake, to the whimsical flair of the ‘Meant to Be’ pennant-style banner, we loved the Southern elegance of this shoot!

Amanda and Brett’s rustic March wedding was beautifully charming! The bride and groom said “I Do” at Amanda’s parents’ Winter Park home, which was transformed into a dream garden.  Amanda had a fantastic vision of creating a “farmer’s market” in the backyard of her childhood home.  When the utterly amazing Christy Subler of Anna Christine Events started explaining their concept and the plan for their wedding day, I don’t think I could have been more excited!  Amanda wanted to spotlight natural goodness of all kinds, from earth-grown goodies to the little creatures that you find hanging around gardens, like birds, caterpillars, snails, and grasshoppers (we even had a conversation about earthworms!).  All of the paper goods that we created for their wedding were loaded with botanical-style fruits and vegetables.

Anna Christine Events designed Amanda’s outdoor wonderland to be “straight from the farmers’ market” using wooden baskets, mason jars and tin pails filled with a bright assortment of flowers. The incredible florals, including bird-cage garden centerpieces bursting with lush English garden roses, succulents, and colorful flowers, and moss-covered risers were created by Flowers by Lesley.  Lesley always blows us away!

We started at the very beginning with Amanda and Brett by designing their postcard-style save-the-dates with engagement photo (shot in a vegetable garden, no less!) by Sarah Bray Photography and featuring delicious-looking strawberries.  Their custom pocketfold wedding invitation followed many months later, and was printed on a speckled creamy paper paired with custom moss-green lattice and featuring a folder of dark brown woodgrain-embossed paper.  My favorite part of Amanda and Brett’s invitation?  It’s a tie between the row of lettuces on their information panel and the mushrooms on their response postcard!

At the wedding we created a directional sign leading guests from the valet drop to the ceremony, and an aisle sign (“Love grows here”).  Guests were then handed gorgeous wedding programs framed with luscious flowers, fruits, and veggies, and introducing some garden creatures–snails, crickets, and sparrows!  After the ceremony, guests were directed to their tables with our seed-packet escort cards: kraft brown envelopes printed on the front with the name and artwork of a fruit, vegetable, or flower that designated their table assignment, and containing real packets of seeds inside.  The artwork for this display was time-consuming and challenging, but the payoff was huge!

Mini bright blue baskets of fresh strawberries awaited guests at their seats with favor tags thanking them “berry much” for attending.  The showstopper of our paper goods, I believe, was brainchild of Anna Christine Events. They asked us to create menu placemats containing Amanda and Brett’s vegan and vegetarian buffet station descriptions.  Arthur’s Catering pulled out all the stops with four (yes, four)  vegan/vegetarian stations: Tex-Mex, Indian, Italian, and Asian.  (Hilarious aside: Amanda’s dad jokingly threatened to hire a hot dog cart to appease the meat-eaters in attendance!).  And in true backyard-wedding style, Amanda, her mom, and other family members created a crazy-huge dessert display filled with 18 types of cakes, truffles, cupcakes, and cookies, with a crowning centerpiece of a vegan wedding cake by Baby Cakes.  We happily created the dessert buffet tags for this amazing display, as well as a pennant banner inviting guests to visit the treats tent, and other vignette signage (Amanda’s dad had a Cigar Grotto – another spectacular personal touch).

We fell in love with absolutely every detail from Amanda and Brett’s wedding, and it was a great honor to be a part of this incredible day.  We greatly enjoyed getting to know this couple!  Here’s their list of truly amazing vendors:
