With the holiday season approaching, the timing was perfect for our “Winter Wonderland” styled shoot with Andi Mans Photography and planner extraordinaire Blush by Brandee Gaar. A variety of deep and vibrant shades of red mixed with plenty of white and gold made this shoot look modern and romantic, with plenty of references to traditional holiday elements. Classic holiday elegance was combined with warm wood tones and a variety of textures to give the shoot an inviting feel. We used these rich colors and textures and mixed in warm, casual notes when creating our invitations and paper goods.

Our invitation was enclosed in a folder that was wrapped with a red satin ribbon. Inside, the invitation and response card were die-cut to create a pretty frame edge, and a band of red satin ribbon also held the response card. While the exterior of the folder was white, the interior featured a deep red with a subtle damask watermark with rosy-colored florals used throughout.  The floral motif and carried over to our deep red custom menus, which were also done in the die-cut frame shape.

We used our new printed wood technique to create customized tags for the napkin ties, chair back escort cards, and to label the ingredients for Two Sweets Bake Shop‘s hot chocolate buffet. Each set of wooden cards was cut in a different shape: rounded squares, scalloped edges, and even the frame shape that we used for the invitations and menus.

Every element of this shoot was carefully thought out. We loved the whimsical and decadent hot chocolate buffet with accompanying mirror board by Chalk Shop, the amazing variety of flowers and greenery by Cheryl’s Distinctive Creations, and the warm plaid blankets wrapped around the dazzlingly elegant bride and bridesmaids. All together, this great mix of styles should provide the perfect inspiration to get you in the holiday spirit!

We loved showcasing some of our unique techniques in this styled shoot! You can get a similar look for your wedding or special event–just contact us for your design consultation.

Thank you to all of the talented event professionals that we had the pleasure of working with on this shoot!

Imagine a wedding on Halloween…what do you envision? Instead of the commercially prevalent orange pumpkins and witches riding on brooms, a more glamorous route was taken for this styled shoot. We were so excited to work with some of our favorite event professionals, including Lee Forrest Design, Two Sweets Bake Shop, Everything Cake, and Bumby Photography, at an amazing location–the stunningly dramatic Grand Bohemian Hotel Orlando.  Imagined by Two Sweets Bake Shop and designed in partnership with Mobella Events, this team of wedding pros produced a romantic look full of candles and decadence with touches of whimsy here and there.

Rich purples and vivid red were used as accent colors to the inky black and gleaming gold that took center stage for the color scheme. Both the invitations and the menus used gold foil on black stock. The invitation was layered on top of gold metallic and black stock with a thick black satin ribbon tied in a bow on one side. Gold foil was used to create an ornate frame-like border around the playful text: telling guests that “the wicked pleasure of your company is requested” and reiterating the slightly morbid sentiment “’til death do us part.” Branch-like artwork capped the top and bottom of the invitation, and a tiny bat was placed at the bottom for a classic Halloween touch.

The same artwork from the invitation was used on the black menus. The round shape of the menus was created by die-cut to fit perfectly on the vintage china from A Chair Affair. We assumed that the cake from Everything Cake was a “death by chocolate” cake! Speaking of decadence, Two Sweets Bake Shop outdid themselves with the amazing dessert buffet. We created tent cards for the various sweets (also gold foil on black) that warned guests: “antidote as yet unavailable.” Bats and skulls and cross bones added a decorative accent that brought back the Halloween theme.

We channeled classic Halloween decor when creating the escort card table. Using our new printed wood technique, we created “tombstones” for the escort cards along with a sign for guests to “find your resting place.” Each card read “here lies,” then the guest’s name, the their “plot” number (the table number). The cards were placed amongst moss for full graveyard effect. The guests knew they were at the correct table when they found the coordinating printed wood table numbers listing their plot number.

We loved that this shoot was so detailed! From the tiny spider on our escort card table sign, to the rosary cross in the bride’s bouquet, to the Day of the Dead figurines on the dessert buffet, everything was so well thought out. We could definitely see this styled shoot translating into a real-life wedding full of beautifully personal touches.

So thrilled to have been part of this team!  A huge thank you and congratulations to all of the vendors involved in this shoot:

Isabelle and David are a laid-back, surf style couple.  While David actually is a surfer, Isabelle prefers to lounge on the beach as a spectator.  In any case, their wedding was totally reflective of their relaxed, fun, and friendly disposition.  We loved working with this couple to create custom invitations and paper goods that reflected their lifestyle and their personas.

Isabelle and David were married on the beach at The Sandbar Restaurant on the beautiful Anna Maria Island. They incorporated many island-tropical elements into their wedding day decor, including a coordinating, custom-designed suite of paper goods made by yours truly! Dara Caudill of Island Photography did such a great job of photographing all of our paper pieces used at the wedding–we love these images!  (Photos of invitation were taken by us.)

Their invitation was colorful and whimsical, layered onto textured sand-colored stock and backed with navy stock. The artwork depicted a bride and groom at sunset, surrounded by palm trees, surfboards, and curling ocean waves. The important information was written below, entering the depths of the ocean. Tropical fish and seaweed decorated both sides of the invitation. Isabelle insisted that we add a mola-mola fish to the invitation… we never did hear the whole story behind that choice! The ocean-themed artwork was consistent throughout the couple’s paper goods, from the programs to the escort cards to the table signs.

The response cards and the accommodation cards that were included with the invitation were some of the most fun and unique pieces that we created for Isabelle and David. Guests received a custom-drawn map of the island to help them find their way to the wedding festivities. The response card featured personalized questions like “Are you more afraid of sharks or alligators?” and “Do you like pina coladas and getting caught in the rain?” These touches were sure to put a smile on the guest’s face and set the tone for their relaxed beach wedding.

The escort cards were displayed on fisherman’s netting (such a cute idea!) with clothespins. We designed navy blue tent cards for the table numbers and signs identifying the new couple and inviting guests to sign the guest book. For a special touch on the bride and groom’s chairs, we created scallop-edged chair back signs that said “guapisima” and “guapisimo”–“gorgeous” and “handsome” in Spanish. We even created a custom wedding letterhead on which Isabelle printed pertinent wedding info for the bridal party.

Isabelle and David’s wedding really shows how consistent paper goods can make your special day look polished and personal. Contact us if you would like YOUR event to have a cohesive look from start to finish.

Last year, we were a part of this gorgeous garden-inspired styled shoot that looks like it was straight out of a fairy tale! The Garden Chateau‘s classic interior and atmospheric grounds set the stage for the planning team at Anna Christine Events to design a romantic wedding scene. Bright pinks, shimmering gold, and warm wood tones set a color palette that was dreamy and timeless. Wings of Glory Photography did a fantastic job capturing all of the details. Looks like others agreed: we were beyond thrilled that Beautiful Bride Magazine not only published the shoot, but featured it on their cover!

We used floral artwork on our invitations and paper goods to emphasize the garden theme of the shoot. Blooms in various shades of pink and red with bright greenery burst from the corners of our designs. The invitations were mounted on petal pink stock and backed by a sophisticated gold stripe with coordinating envelopes lined with the striped paper. A calligraphy-like script in metallic gold was used to write the couple’s names. We used this romantic script throughout our paper goods with other important text printed in a classic serif font.

Our double-sided keepsake menu cards featured the couple’s names, the venue, and the date on one side. The gold stripe pattern created a “picket fence” design that bordered the bottom of the card. On the reverse, the courses of the meal were written in metallic gold. Of course, pink flowers graced both sides of the cards.

We created other fantastic paper goods for the shoot, including escort cards, table number signs, chair back signs for the head table, and a “This Way to the Wedding” sign. To keep a consistent look, we continued the font styles, metallic gold, and floral designs throughout the stationery suite. Our escort cards had a little extra detail that made them that much more special: the inside of the tent cards featured the gold stripe pattern seen on the invitations.

Anna Christine Events created two different ceremonies and two different receptions: one indoor and one outdoor of each! We especially liked the outdoor reception, with its long farm tables from A Chair Affair, glowing candelabras, and market string lights. Of course, a garden-themed wedding wouldn’t be complete without an abundance of flowers! Flowers By Lesley did an absolutely amazing job creating a luscious environment, decorating everything from the banisters of the grand staircase, to a sweet tree swing, to the wedding arch. The candelabras were clustered with blossoms and the cake by Iva’s Cake Place looked divine with Lesley’s floral touches. The bride carried a beautiful beautiful bouquet of pink garden roses and cascading greenery, which was also seen gracing her blonde ringlets.

Contact us if you loved the look of this styled shoot. We can’t wait to hear your ideas and make wedding invitations and paper goods that are uniquely YOU!

We are so proud to have participated in this shoot! Thank you to each and every wedding professional involved for their contributions to such a lovely outcome:

Blush pink and gold are hugely popular for weddings right now, so we were excited to show how this color palette could be used to create a romantic and glamorous wedding. This styled shoot was conceived and photographed by Kati Rosado Photography with design and styling by Emily Grace Design, and the results couldn’t have been more stunning. The combination of the gleaming metallic finishes, feminine pink colors, and the rustic setting of Up the Creek Farms gave a very personal (and enviable!) overall design.

We designed our invitations and paper goods on pale pink stock with gold foil printing. The invitations were a square folder design with the couple’s initials on the cover surrounded by a laurel wreath in gold foil. Instead of a standard plus sign between the M and R, we added a sweet heart shape. Inside, the folder was lined with a mod, circular pattern in gold foil. All of the important information was printed onto blush pink paper with a gold glitter border, and the response card was held by a pink fabric ribbon embellished with a monogrammed, die-cut circle.

Pink ribbon accents were carried over to the menus and escort cards. The die-cut menus were done in a curving frame shape with a sweet ribbon at the top. The escort cards were presented in combination with the macaron favors by Two Sweets Bake Shop. Guest names were printed in an elegant script with their table numbers in a modern sans serif font (all in gold foil). Notched blush pink ribbons ran horizontally behind the cards. A sign on the favor tray/escort card table repeated the glittery gold border seen on the invitation. Rounding out our paper goods were delicate place cards, charmingly placed in artichoke holders at each place setting.

The rest of the decor for the shoot also combined classic romance with modern chic appeal. The bouquet and floral work by Julie Miner Events looked lush, especially when placed on the vintage-inspired table from Crystal and Crates. Gold was everywhere, from the classy chiavari chairs from A Chair Affair to the amazingly designed cake by Creative Cakes & Candies.

We were so pleased with how this styled shoot came out! It was so eye-catching that Ruffled featured it on their site! Check out the blog post here.

Elaine and Jeff married on Valentine’s Day at Mission Inn Resort, and the day could not have been more romantic! The theme of Elaine and Jeff’s wedding was “A Journey of Love,” an idea that came from the couple’s love of travel and their adventures together. We love the way that this theme was carried through each aspect of this special day, from the decor to the food and drink.  Rhodes Studios took so many beautiful photos that we had trouble choosing which ones to feature here!

Elaine and Jeff had the most personal wedding of any we’ve ever seen!  Every single element of their paper goods – from the invitation to table numbers to signage – carried a personal and meaningful story from their “journey of love.”  They met as coworkers, and as their relationship grew, their time was dotted with trips throughout the US, most notably to Vegas, Hawaii, and finally Alaska, where Jeff proposed to Elaine atop a glacier.

We loved that Carly Ane’s Floral Studio created centerpieces that coordinated with each table’s theme: tropical floral for Hawaii, soaring vases of blue-tinted water topped with white hydrangea for Alaska, and vases of floating candles full of blingy crystals for Las Vegas. Each centerpiece even featured fun figurines like hula girls, miniature bears and moose, and poker chips and dice. To top everything off, Party Flavors Custom Cakes made five (yes, FIVE!) unique cakes for Elaine and Jeff: a volcano, a gambler’s fantasy cake, a traditional wedding cake with pretty purple details, a representation of an Alaskan cruise (including a glacier on top), and a Notre Dame cake for the groom!

Jeff and Elaine had previously designed their own luggage tag save-the-date before we met with them.  So to continue in their style of travel-themed papers, they asked us to design a passport-style invitation–somewhat realistic in appearance, but using their purple and champagne color scheme (with tiny pops of red).  On the photo page of their passport, we used a photo from one of their cruises.  On the arrivals/departures pages, we created custom stamps of locations they had visited on their trips–volcanoes, glaciers, parks, casinos, and historical places–and then included “handwritten” memories and notes next to each stamp.  The stamp pages of their passport invitation were ultra-personal; it was as if they had invited their guests on the trips along with them and were reliving the fun.

We carried the watermark-style patterns from the passport into their day-of papers, wedding programs, and signage.  Our absolute favorite piece was a two-part “Here comes the Bride” sign that was tied onto the back of a custom princess carriage created to roll Elaine’s niece (the flower girl) down the aisle.  On their way to the reception, guests picked up their escort cards, attached to a key with a purple satin ribbon, and could match their assigned table by name AND corresponding photo of the couple at that location (“Kona,” “MGM Grand,” and “Fairbanks” were just a few).  These photos matched those on table cards.  To show that they wanted their guests to have a great time, Elaine and Jeff supplied flip-flops and silly dance floor props in baskets with our “Dance like no one’s watching” sign.  And rather than a typical guestbook, they had a custom garden bench made for all guests to sign, which they have now placed in their backyard.

This wedding truly had so many ultra-personal details, it would take a book to share them all.  For certain, Elaine and Jeff’s guests had a fabulous time and will remember this wedding forever!

Elaine gave us a great, 5-star review on WeddingWire! Here are a few of her impressions from working with us:

“Denise was superb!! Our wedding guests are still raving about her creativity and attention to detail from our passport invitations to our menus and signage throughout our venue. Denise was extremely responsive as we worked with her to create these unique items for our wedding. She was the utmost professional and it was obvious to us how passionate she is about her work. Because of Denise’s vision, we were able to pull together all the travel themes in our wedding (Hawaii, Las Vegas, Alaska) seamlessly. Thank you Denise for making our wedding day so special.”

Elaine and Jeff, thank you so much for choosing to work with Dogwood Blossom Stationery to create you custom invitations and paper goods!  It was a blast to work with you and an honor to help you share your “journey of love!”

We are so excited to feature this wedding! Melissa and John married in the Dominican Republic in 2012, and their day was pure magic.  So much so, that it was featured in Destination Weddings and Honeymoons magazine. We are so grateful to Sara Kauss Photography for sending us these beautiful photos! The Hard Rock Hotel Punta Cana provided a lovely seaside venue for the couple’s all-white ceremony and blush pink and silver contemporary, but romantic, reception.

Melissa and John were referred to us by John’s brother, David, and new sister-in-law, Kelly, whose wedding invitations and papers we had created the previous year.  Both brothers and their beautiful brides had breathtaking destination weddings, and both couples were incredibly pleasant to work with.

We created Melissa and John’s paper goods to match their modern romantic wedding style. We used white stock with a shimmering overlay of glittery silver organza fabric for the invitations and paper goods. Soft pink was the couple’s accent color, so we printed the decorative touches in this lovely shade. Graphic floral artwork in light pink decorated the invitation and seating charts, and a motif of elegant pink brackets was used throughout the paper pieces. For an added special touch, we accented the invitations with delicate crystals and enclosed them in pink pearlized envelopes.

Some of our favorite pieces from this wedding are the seating charts and the chair back signs. Melissa and John had a large amount of guests, so we printed their table assignments onto five framed seating charts, each designed uniquely to coordinate as a group display.  Keeping consistent with the overall look of the paper goods, we included the linear floral pattern and curvy brackets. The curved, frame-style chair back signs gave the sweetest message to the couple’s guests! For the bride’s chair, the sign read “I fell in love with the boy next door,” and the groom’s said the same about “the girl next door.” Just darling!

We were honored that John reviewed us on WeddingWire. Here’s a little bit of what he had to say about working with us:

“One of the things that I thought was worth every single penny we spent, was Dogwood Blossom Stationery. I went to Denise with my ideas and she was able to take what I was imagining and make it a reality. As soon as I told her what I wanted, everything else was taken care of quickly, professionally and beautifully. I couldn’t have asked for a better service and I can’t thank Dogwood Blossom Stationery for making my day that much more special with your attention to detail. I recommend Denise to everybody and anyone who wants a great, beautiful end product without the headache. Thanks for everything!”

Thank you, Melissa and John, for choosing to work with Dogwood Blossom Stationery to create your custom save-the-dates, invitations, and wedding papers!

It may be the end of summer here in Florida, but we’re thinking about cooler temperatures. We were honored to be a part of this wintery photo shoot in 2012 with Bumby Photography (then known as Kristina Grimm Photography). This styled shoot was even featured on Style Me Pretty! Make sure you read the feature here.

The look of this shoot reflected the rustic touches of the location, Wekiwa State Park Boys Youth Ranch, with blue tones, silver, and warm white. We created our invitations and paper goods using icy blue and kraft-colored stock with snowflake borders and a pinecone motif.

The invitations were printed on matte white, layered onto cool blue shantung satin, and backed with a textured white stock for a luxe, layered look.  A rustic brown pinecone was featured prominently at the top of the invitation and on the response envelope. A sky blue embroidery pattern was used as a border, and also lined the invitation envelopes. Both the invitation and response card were enclosed in kraft brown envelopes. We added a bow in blue twisted paper eco-twine wrapped around the envelope for a finishing touch.

Pinecones and snowflakes continued through the rest of the paper goods that we made. Our napkin-cuff menus were printed on matte white and layered onto kraft and designed to wrap around the napkins for a pretty presentation. We also created a “wedding this way” sign to direct guests to the ceremony, which was tacked to a pine tree and accented by some of the beautiful floral by Fairbanks Florist. To complete our stationery suite, we made simple white escort cards with each guest’s name printed in a lowercase handwriting script, then layered the cards onto sturdy, textured white tent cards.

The winter wonderland really showed through in the rest of the decor as well. The all-white wedding cake by Everything Cake featured white nonpareils and sparkling white sanding sugar to represent the snow that Floridians can only dream of. Hand-painted appliqués in icy blue and silvery gray completed the stunning four-tier cake. We also especially loved the bouquet! Creamy roses and softly-colored flowers were mixed with silver-toned dusty miller and smoky succulents, all wrapped in burlap and tied with brown string.

Chris and Josh’s incredible wedding at Aloft Orlando Downtown was full of colorful celebration. Captured through the lens of Lauren Watai Photography, their special day included plenty of fun colors, happy family and friends, and lots and lots of dancing! We were so excited to create the invitations and paper goods for this sweet couple, who had traveled to upstate New York a couple weeks prior to their Orlando wedding celebration for their marriage license.

When I first met Chris and Josh, they told me they chose Aloft for its mid-century modern, “Mad Men” style, and they wanted their wedding style to reflect the style of the venue.  So I asked Chris and Josh to walk me through Aloft and show me some of the decor that thrilled them most.  In that meeting, we decided to use electric blue, magenta, and chartreuse, with an addition of a dark blue to balance the brights.  They loved the patterns and textures used throughout the venue as well – yellowed woods, charcoal wools, and colorful abstract shapes.  To reflect these elements, we kept the paper goods clean but modern, and incorporated contrasting textures into the layers of the invitation.

We printed their invitation on matte white and layered it onto wood veneer that had been custom-stained for them.  The backing was created with charcoal wool fabric to create thickness and texture.  Their invitation was created in a large A9 size to make the most of their textures, and it created a breathtaking and unique presentation.

For their day-of papers, we used their custom monogram from their invitation for a cohesive look. We created food and drink signs for the buffet and the bar, and favor tags on wooden sticks. Chris and Josh chose succulent plants in mini galvanized pots as their favors, and Greenery Productions styled their showstopping favor table.

The rest of the decor was equally bright and graphic. We loved the chevron-patterned cake dotted with succulents, by Party Flavors Custom Cakes, which coordinated perfectly with the chevron linens on the favor table. Greenery Productions‘ floral work included the grooms’ boldly colored boutonnieres and gorgeous ceremony flowers in vivid purple, blue, and green.

We were so honored to be a part of this beautiful and touching wedding! Thank you to these awesome vendors for helping to make Chris and Josh’s wedding dreams come true:

Picture a golden, summer day with busy honey bees buzzing under sun-dappled, shady trees. Our custom-designed invitations and wedding papers were featured in this gorgeous photo shoot by Amalie Orrange on Wedding Chicks.

For this styled shoot, we designed and created the honey bee invitations, place-setting menus, escort cards, favor tags, and biscuit bar cards. We used a honeycomb pattern as a geometric theme throughout the escort cards, invitation suite, and menu holders.

A graceful script on the escort cards was printed in bright turquoise to match the baby’s breath-filled, vintage bottles that hang from the trees. The same font on the invitations and menus is honey gold. We used bumblebee artwork to adorn the escort cards, menus, and the lining of the invitation envelopes exclusively for this project. Our invitation suite was printed on cream and kraft stock with a honeycomb border with a custom envelope liner that repeats the honeycomb pattern.

Instead of a dessert bar, this shoot featured a biscuit bar with a variety of honeys in vintage jars and decanters, and heart-shaped, freshly-baked biscuits. The favors — mason jars filled with honey — were stored in an authentic pie safe, and featured our round, kraft brown tags, tied on with twine.  Quoting Victor Hugo, the inscription on the favor tags reads: “Life is the flower for which love is the honey.”

The shabby chic furniture gathered by RW Events resonated with the rustic, vintage theme. The models were dressed in 1930s style to recreate the more relaxed atmosphere of a bygone era. The amber bands around the cake, and the gem-like quality of the honey and real honeycomb on the biscuit bar lent a richness to the rustic surroundings.

We are so pleased to have been included in this inspirational shoot, and hope that it gives you ideas for your own wedding!
