{Inspiration} Fresh-Squeezed: A Rustic Lemonade Stand Wedding

Imagine a simpler time, spending a sunny afternoon sharing crisp cool lemonade. Childhood pastimes, like a lemonade stand, can be great inspiration for a memorable wedding.

The charm of this vintage-tinged daydream was captured by the Wings of Glory photo team and brought to life by the coordination of Vows Wedding & Event Planning. We had a wonderful time squeezing gallons of romance and joy into the invitations and paper goods that we created for this lemonade stand-inspired photoshoot.

These amazing photos capture the couple’s warm love and the effortless setting of the shoot.

The talented team at Bring out the Beauty in You enhanced the bride’s natural beauty to go along with this youthful theme. Her sun-kissed look was perfect with the glowing afternoon light!

Our paper goods were designed in yellow, blush pink, and gray, with a combination of stripes and lattice. The invitations used a layer of yellow striped seersucker fabric, were wrapped with cotton twine strung with an adorable yellow button, and encased in a custom-sewn burlap envelope. The hang tag-shaped menu cards reflected the decor’s rustic farm style, and had an added detail of jute twine.

The escort cards were displayed on a distressed yellow dresser with a backdrop of burlap streamers, adding to the rustic flavor. A yellow polka-dot border encircled each antique-style typeset number, and we backed the round cut-outs with burlap.

We absolutely loved how effortless our table numbers looked amongst the white flowers, which the Flower Lady casually placed in mason jars. Sprigs of lavender and sliced lemon accents were just slivers of the amazing details.

The lemon fresh inspiration was carried through with some delicious sweet treats. The dessert buffet included pink lemonade-colored popcorn, pink and yellow rock candy, soft pastel French macarons, and a breathtaking cake creation by Wendy Woo Cakes.

The furniture and design details by RW Events created an authentic atmosphere of a stylishly vintage farm.  The head table was set with mismatched chairs. We love the way our playful custom chair signs turned out: “He’s mine” and “She’s mine,” in case guests had any doubt! Our drink tags, below, continued the burlap motif seen on the rest of the paper goods. What a cute way to send your guests a loving message!

{Invitation Inspiration} Fun with Gingham

Gingham wedding invitation in black, hot raspberry, and lemon yellowGingham place-setting menu in black, hot pink, and yellowGingham fabric wedding invitation

Last year around this time, a bride called and asked me to create an invitation using bandana fabric.  To date, it’s one of my favorite projects, and I have her invitation posted in my Weddings Gallery and on lots of other online galleries!  Part of the reason why her wedding ensemble is one of my favorite projects is that when she asked me to use fabric, my first instinct was to panic.  Using fabric on invitations was new for me, and I didn’t really know where to begin.  But I told her I’d try it out and see what happened.  Well, the results were amazing!  That bride opened a whole world of opportunities for me!

Since creating her wedding invitations, I’ve created many, many more invitations using fabrics, for various events and occasions, and have actually decided to layer my business cards onto fabric.  (Yes, it’s just that great.)  (I’ll post my new business cards on this blog at a later date so you can see just how incredible they are – I dare you to throw my business card away!)

So on my last trip to the fabric store, I saw black and white gingham, and this little lightbulb went off in my head.  Wouldn’t that look awesome with some bright colors – like hot pink and bright yellow?  Maybe with a fluffy bow?  Something super fun…  Perfect!

The result is what you see above.  I created a square, gate-fold invitation using hot raspberry pink cardstock and tied it closed with a fluffy satin ribbon in lemon yellow.  Inside, the invitation is printed on bright white in a casual handwriting font paired with a formal block font.  A layer of black and white gingham sets off the invitation with unexpected flair.

To demonstrate how the look comes together at the reception, I created place-setting menus using the same materials, designed to slide into a pocket-fold napkin.

Also while I was at the fabric store, I saw some light blue and white gingham… it would look great on a birth announcement…  Hmmm.

Real Wedding: Rita & Franck’s Sapphire Blue and Lemon Yellow Wedding

Rita and Franck’s wedding day in October at LPGA International was full of special touches and attention to detail.  As the couple are French, as were some of the guests, they chose lots of classic French detail, such as a fleur de lis motif, a croquembouche wedding cake, and even a Bible verse printed in French on the invitations being sent to French-speaking guests.

Rita and Franck chose a color palette of lemon yellow, used for flowers and decor, against a sapphire blue backdrop.  I love Rita’s decision to incorporate real lemons and lemon halves into the centerpieces and decor.  I’m betting their reception smelled wonderful!  They worked in the fleur de lis motif where possible, on printed paper goods and on the seating card holders.

A croquembouche was served as the wedding cake, as is traditional for French weddings.  Gorgeous all by itself – created by mounding profiteroles into a cone and dripping it with sweets – it was made even more spectacular with flowers and curled lemon-zest decoration worked into the tower.  Rita also gave Franck a sweet surprise with a really lovely groom’s cake decorated with the Arsenal Football Club logo in fondant!

Dogwood Blossom Stationery created a fairly traditional, layered wedding invitation for Rita and Franck.  Rita chose pearlized dark sapphire blue paper paired with matte lemon  yellow.  We accented the invitation with a small fleur de lis  in the perfect middle.  Square table numbers were created using the same papers and motif for the couple’s reception.  And because Rita and Franck wanted to give something special and personalized for their wedding favors, we created custom recipe cards using the couple’s favorite family recipes.

What a beautiful wedding!  Thank you, Rita and Franck, for letting me be part of you day!
