What a pleasure and an honor it was to work with Katie and Austin to create their custom wedding invitations!  Katie is a colleague – a phenomenal wedding stylist with an amazing sense of style and full of creativity.  And apparently, so are many other members of her family!  When I met with Katie for our design consultation, one of the first things she asked me was whether I’d be able to use a painting created by her sister for the invitation.  Sure!  What could possibly be more personal than that?!  We were thrilled to work with her sister’s artwork, and add a few subtle touches of our own to create an unbelievably personal and meaningful invitation for this incredible couple.

Katie and Austin showcased their eclectic style during their outdoor wedding at Isola Farms.  We printed their invitations and table numbers on wood, which complemented the “Junk Gypsy” style that Katie had imagined.

RW Events, LLC (where Katie works as a stylist) did a fantastic job planning Katie and Austin’s celebration with Amalie Orrange Photography behind the camera to capture their day. The Sugar Suite crafted a stunning 5-tiered wedding cake draped with pink, yellow and orange flowers to flow with the impeccable floral arrangements provided by Flowers by Lesley. With dancing and photo booth sessions during the reception, there was no shortage of fun, props, or excitement for Katie, Austin and their loved ones.

We absolutely loved creating your custom stationery, Katie and Austin! Thank you for choosing us and allowing your creativity to inspire us!

Whether it is a special event or wedding, we love creating custom stationery and paper goods that will be a part of amazing memories that will last a lifetime. Contact us today to schedule a custom design consultation for your celebration.

{Inspiration} Romantic and Dramatic Anna Karenina Photo Shoot

Romantic Wedding Photo Shoot

For brides who love literature, the theme of this styled shoot allows them the ability to step right out of a page from Leo Tolstoy’s classic novel and into their fantasy wedding. Along with the amazing talent of Eventrics Weddings, we captured the style of Anna Karenina through the opulent, romantic, and dramatic decor and paper goods. We invite you to flip through pages of a passionate love affair captured by Clearly In Focus Photography. You can also read more in the feature on Fab You Bliss!

Dramatic Wedding Paper Goods by Dogwood Blossom Stationery

We just love this dress by Modern Bridal Shop: the fusion between modern and antique is gorgeous. The bride’s Victorian-inspired accessories really set the tone for the overall look.

This birdcage veil is great for the modern bride who wants a break from tradition. Equally bold is the bridesmaid’s tulle-topped hat. It’s risky but we love it! Boldly Unique hand made all of the amazing headpieces for this shoot.

Royal Blue Wedding Invitations by Dogwood Blossom Stationery

We think it’s amazing how Eventrics Weddings, with the help of Taylormade Wedding & Event Flowers, created unique centerpieces that somehow looked like they were reaching out from the base in a longing manner, mimicking the everlasting desire the couple shares for each other. George L. Gaines Jeweler provided the heirloom china, silver, and glassware, which transported guests to 1870s Russia. Even the decorative chargers and chiavari chairs provided by Event Source Solutions made for an adventure to the past where etiquette and prestige were the keys to happiness. The details in the heirloom silver add a lavish touch fit for an aristocrat and her count. The ornate detailing can also be seen in the shimmering midnight blue linens with black and silver lace overlay and teacups with proper saucers.

We created all of the invitations and paper goods with an ornate border and aristocratic-looking monogrammed crest. The black and royal blue accents perfect coordinate with the layered, midnight-colored scheme of the shoot.  The invitation is a generously-sized 7.5-inch square mounted on a midnight-blue velvet-covered panel, and delivered in a black box with a printed address wrap.

We can’t over get how these butterflies quietly spread their message! It’s beautiful, creative, and adds a whimsical touch to an escort card display.

{Real Wedding} Donna and Richard's Valentine's Day Wedding

DonnaandRichCov

Donna and Richard promised each other forever on a day meant for lovers. On February 14th, 2014, guests gathered for an outdoor ceremony at Harmony Golf Preserve. The glowing bride rode in on Misty Blue Acres Carriage Company‘s all-white carriage drawn by two horses. Her warm smile greeted guests on the way to meet her prince. The elegant backdrop of nature, as well as the decor, was caught effortlessly by Sunshine Photographics. We were honored to be a part of this beautiful wedding by creating the couple’s invitations and paper goods.

DonnaandRichCar

DonnaandRichWedding

DonnaandRichardWinebox
This wine box was lovingly made by Rich’s parents. As part of their wedding ceremony, the newlyweds placed a love note to each other in this time capsule to be encased for 5 years. However, if they have a trying time before 5 years, they can unlock the box and read the notes to each other over a glass of wine from the bottle housed within. How sweet and genuine!

DonnaandRichSuperHero.jpg

Another personal element was kept under wraps: the groom and his men broke all the rules by wearing superhero shirts under their button-downs.

DonnaandRichVows

DonnaandRichFlowerAsile

The happy couple made their way down a beautiful aisle of fiery-colored rose petals and blazed a path towards happiness in their new lives. The vibrant orange and pinks of Lee Forrest Design‘s floral work cut a striking contrast to the woodsy setting. Our soft pink ceremony programs featured a delicate floral-patterned border and crystal accent for a little tasteful “bling.”

DonnaandRichFlow

DonnaandRichCake2

The fresh floral continued to their reception and romantic colors. The simple elegance of the decor was carried out through the classic centerpieces, traditional-but-modern (and delicious-looking) cake by Cut the Cake, and our cream and coral paper goods. We used an elegant script throughout the signage, including on the custom card box sign.

The couple’s chair backs were adorned with our custom signs that read “His Beloved” and “Her Beloved:” a reminder of their love and excitement to everyone who passed their seats. We were pleased to provide a creative combination of escort cards and favor tags. The favor was a slice of a traditional Jamaican celebratory rum cake. (The kids got brownies instead!) Our escort cards, printed with each guest’s name and table name, were attached by a coral-colored ribbon and a delicate charm of intertwined hearts.

{Inspiration} Pink and Gray Southern Glam at Horse Stamp Inn

Custom ceremony paper goods by Dogwood Blossom Stationery

We’re taking you back almost two years ago to this glamorous Southern wedding inspiration shoot. Flaire Weddings & Events created the striking concept of hot pink, gray, and silver against the rustic atmosphere of the Horse Stamp Inn. We were proud to be a part of this shoot–it was even featured in Every Last Detail! Keep reading to see our lovely stationery and more beautiful photos by Jenn Hopkins Photography.

In true Southern fashion, the bride wore leather cowboy boots under her one-shoulder gown from The Wedding Loft. Her softly romantic makeup was courtesy of makeup artist Paulina Perez.

Custom escort cards by Dogwood Blossom Stationery

Our stationery suite used blush pink, gray, and hot pink details. We designed custom invitations using a shantung satin backer board in blush pink, along with ceremony programs, escort cards, table numbers, and menus for this farm-meets-glamour wedding. By using a flourished script and classic French motifs like the fleur-de-lis and quatrefoil, our paper goods brought a very contemporary feel to the barn setting. The quatrefoil pattern that bordered the invitation and all of the paper goods were reflected again in the table runner and on the cake by For the Love of Cake.

Southern-pink-and-gray-reception-paper-goods-by-Dogwood-Blossom-Stationery.jpg

Flaire Weddings & Events designed all of the floral for the shoot, from the bouquet to the centerpieces to this custom monogrammed focal point. If you take a closer look, you’ll see that they used blooms of different shades of pink woven into chicken wire. Now THAT’S country glam!

Custom-table-number-signs-by-Dogwood-Blossom-Stationery.jpg

We created menus to wrap around the shimmering pink napkins. The table top used many interesting combinations of laid-back country and high-end glam: silver beaded chargers from Beachview Rentals, mason jars as drinking glasses, a vintage silver tray, and contemporary vases. Our table numbers kept the eclectic feel by combining a classic-looking font with a more modern one.

{Inspiration} Great Gatsby Styled Shoot at Church Street Ballroom

Brides with Chauffeur, Dogwood Blossom Stationery

The roaring twenties was a time of wealth, reform and an ongoing party. This Great Gatsby theme put together by Misty Miotto‘s team encompasses all there is to love about this age, with a modern swing to keep it relevant. Follow the marvelous photographer on a journey to the past.

Bride with bouquet, Dogwood Blossom Stationery

One groom, so many brides! Dogwood Blossom Stationery

The 20s introduced a “new woman” and ladies everywhere were breaking traditions in everything–especially in fashion. Here, the model brides are no exception with bobbed hair styles, bejeweled hair pieces, lavish jewelry and dresses from The Collection Bridal which did an incredible job capturing the essence of the era.

Church Street Ballroom, Gatsby-themed wedding, Dogwood Blossom Stationery

The bride’s look is a delicate balance between something new and something borrowed. Her hairpiece, gloves, jewelry and veil are all borrowed from the twenties while her dress has a modern bodice with simple details–making it the perfect canvas for her more expressive pieces. The attention to detail makes this look work without being costume-like.

The name “Golden Era” is extremely prominent in the color selection for the decor. The golden, ruffled table covers from Over the Top use texture to add variation and the feathered centerpieces add the free flowing breeze of the period. The Church Street Ballroom is the ideal place to hold such an event because architecturally it enhances the theme with its symmetrical design, high ceilings and large columns. All of these factors give guests a chance to Charleston the night away in style.

Our escort cards, table numbers, menus, and invitations are no exception to the glitz and glamour of the signature tune. Staying golden, the creamy background with simple line design stands out when put against the gilded surfaces. We used an Art Deco-inspired font that looks like they were created almost a century ago. The invitations were nestled in gold mesh pouches embellished with sequins and glass beads and placed in gold invitation boxes lined with white faux fur. Talk about decadence!

{Real Wedding} Kerry and Steve's Skull and Roses Wedding

Kerry and Steve had a wedding that was perfectly them – skulls and roses in scarlet, black, and champagne. Not a second went by without full-hearted smiles and encores of laughter from guests and vendors alike. But don’t take our word for it, get in on all of the excitement with these amazing pictures capturing every moment!

We firmly believe that your wedding should be about you: your love story, your personality, your style.  Kerry and Steve really exemplified this idea, and we had a blast helping bring the idea to life for such an amazing couple.  Every paper good, from their save-the-date and wedding invitations to their table numbers and signage, was designed with couple’s bold spirit in mind.

KerrySteve.jpg

Kerry and Steve’s wedding invitation used a bright red pocket folder printed with roses and their monogram.  Inside, their invitation wording was inset against a layer of calligraphic scrollwork, which made their slightly gothic invitation very elegant and striking.

KerryandSteve_Skulls and Rosses_DBS_ring bearer

During the ceremony, the handsome ring bearer waltzed down the aisle with rings in one hand and our custom sign in the other. The black and red print popped against the pearlized champagne background. Of course, the clever little ring bearer knew the sign could double as a face mask. (Love that photo!)

The ballroom at Buena Vista Palace was grand and elegant. Sleek black table linens accompanied by splashes of red accented the strikingly crafted black and white details on the walls and ceiling. Guests were encouraged to find their seats with custom-wrapped sweets. Every chocolate bar was wrapped with a coordinating wrapper that contained their name and seating assignment.  We alternated red and black foil for a color pop.

{Real Wedding} Amanda & Joe's Classic Botanical Wedding

The Country Club of Orlando was buzzing with excitement on Amanda and Joe’s fun-filled wedding day. Between the rockin’ music from The Blues Factor Band, the cheerful hues of the décor, and the loving smiles on the couple’s faces, every inch of the room was bursting with pure delight. Every eye-catching color and whimsical touch was tied together by the experts at Michele Butler Events. Claire Pacelli Photography captured theses stunning photos, while Eric Horner Films crafted a beautiful video for the couple to look back on for years to come.

ClairePacelliPhoto_CountryClubofOrlando_DBS_couple-with-bouquet

Inspired by the beautiful Audubon-style florals, birds, and insects, the invitations were designed to be timeless and romantic. If invitations could grow in a garden, they would most likely look something like this!

Walking into the reception was like entering a garden in full bloom. The floral arrangements by Lee Forrest Design were nothing short of stunning. Swirls of deep violet, orange, peach, and pink flowers danced around the room adorned with beautiful butterflies. Bright and shimmering crystals added that extra sparkle to every eye. The bride and groom even included a form of entertainment for the little guests at the grand affair.

{Inspiration} Sequins – More sequined wedding invitations

Eggplant purple wedding invitation with sequins

Sequins are hot right now.  They’re everywhere.  While prior to 2011 most of us might have remembered them mostly as adornment on our gymnastics and dance leotards from childhood (I remember!), they were rethought last year as a hot embellishment for literally just about everything – couture runway gowns, home décor, hair accessories, you name it.  The wedding industry was certainly not left out of that trend, as you are probably already very aware.  And it’s a good thing, because sequins can do marvelous things for your wedding’s overall look and style, and they’re actually much more versatile than most of us give them credit for.

BLING – Used in large quantities and metallic colors,  sequins provide a lot of bling to whatever item it is they’re embellishing.  Consider adding crystals to boost the bling.

VINTAGE GLAMOUR – Used in delicate, pale, or washed-out hues like champagne, peach, or light gray, they lend a vintage glam look.  Perfect for weddings with a vintage Hollywood theme.

WILD FUN – In bright or hot colors, sequins add fun to their platform.

SOPHISTICATION – And used sporadically, in smaller quantities and rich colors, they add elegance, dimension, and intensity of color as they reflect the light they catch.

Pale gold and blush pink wedding menus with sequins

We created the wedding invitation at the top of this post using a suede-like aubergine purple fabric, embroidered with an undulating wave pattern and embellished with matching eggplant-colored sequins.  This wedding invitation is more sophisticated than it is blingy as a result of the rich purple hue and the relatively minimized use of sequins.  If you could only reach through the screen and touch it, you would find this invitation incredibly tactile and warm, thanks to the soft faux suede fabric and raised embroidered waves.

We created the place-setting menus above using cream-colored papers printed in chocolate brown.  Blush pink sequins and tiny, clear glass beads were sewn into a twist of pale gold mesh fabric as an embellishment.  These menus have a vintage feel with the slightest hint of glam.

What’s your take on sequins?  Will you incorporate them into your wedding style?  Contact us at Dogwood Blossom Stationery to schedule a design consultation to discuss your custom sequin wedding invitations.

{News} We've been featured in Orlando Wedding magazine!

More big news!  More excitement!  Orlando Wedding magazine featured two of our Welcome Bags in the Spring/Summer 2012 issue, out on newsstands right now.  As the article says, welcome bags are a fantastic surprise for out-of-town guests to find in their hotel rooms.

Celadon green and tangerine, hot pink and emerald green wedding welcome bags

Our welcome bag, featured on the left, was created with a Kraft paper gift bag with twisted handles.  It was stenciled along both sides with a celadon green peacock feather.  A square tag, printed on cream, is attached with a tangerine orange ribbon.  A closing clasp is created for this bag using jute twine that loops around the welcome bag tag.

Our welcome box, featured on the right, is a custom-created hot pink box.  It is adorned with white ruffle ribbon and emerald green satin ribbon.  A white faux chrysanthemum sits on top of the box and holds in place a round welcome tag, printed on pearlized white and adorned with two Swarovski crystals.

Have you been scouting for unique welcome bags for your out-of-town wedding guests?  What are you planning to include in your welcome bags?  Contact us at Dogwood Blossom Stationery to begin custom-creating your welcome bags!
